In lieu of an update
The weekend just gone was a long weekend, I went to Swancon and had a lot of adventures I hope to remember when I have the trifecta of time/energy/motivation to write up. We also had a once in 50 years* storm that made a bit of a mess. Given that Cyclone Alby was nearly 50 years ago, that is quite the storm (although maybe Alby didn't count, and there is a different storm being referenced)
* according to one news report

I will note that the news reports I've read today have said once in 5 years; I'm suspecting what I read was a typo. That is actually reassuring. There was, however, flooding, according to the ABC - Bayswater is the one I've seen, not very deep because the benches on the picnic tables are above water

found a relevant article: Woman credits 'divine intervention' after tree hits car during WA's strongest storm in 49 years. I'm obviously missing something in the reporting

I suspect I'm seeing a time line in the news, as the severity of the storm in reality was more severe than the predicted. But yes, I'm also assuming the probabilistic / climate change affected issue. I can name some other quite severe storms in the last 50 years, it just caught my attention that I could name the storm (or rather, cyclone) that had hit about 50 years ago.

Too bad about the storm.

Thank you. And yes, there are some quite badly affected people after this storm. We were lucky, what we lost was our whole feijoa crop on the ground before it was ripe. As costs go, I'm very okay with that one.
